LOCA® WI-6 is a versatile film-forming additive, ideal for general industrial coatings such as light anti-corrosion steel structures, two-component epoxies, amino resins, and two-component hydroxy acrylic systems. It offers excellent resin compatibility, reduces side reactions, and enhances film density—especially in two-component systems.
Replacing ether-based solvents with LOCA® WI-6 lowers VOC content, helping meet stricter environmental regulations for water-based coatings. In single-component systems, it substitutes ether and alcohol ester-based additives, reduces dosage, and improves early water resistance. It can also be blended with fast-evaporating agents for optimized performance.
With a high boiling point, LOCA® WI-6 is ideal for high-temperature baking polyurethane coatings. It prevents blistering from water boil-off and improves film thickness and flexibility, ensuring a smooth, durable finish.
LOCA® WI-6 film-forming agent brings proven performance from industrial systems to waterborne wood coatings. It enhances film density without compromising hardness, improving resistance to hot water and ethanol.
In 1K systems, LOCA® WI-6 can partially replace solvents. A recommended ratio is LOCA® WI-6 : DPNB = 1:1. Despite its high boiling point, it does not slow surface or practical drying times. It increases film density, offering better durability and resistance.
In 2K systems, it can substitute part of DPNB, improving key properties such as boiling water resistance and hot water performance. Tests show LOCA® WI-6 maintains clarity and enhances wood grain visibility without affecting film appearance.
Note: When formulating with LOCA® WI-6, reduce the dosage of medium-shear polyurethane thickeners appropriately.
